So my five year old (almost six) was outside playing with the neighbor girl and the neighbor's puppy while my husband was cooking dinner over the fire pit. Apparently, the puppy dug up a hornet's nest and started yelping so the girls went over to see what was going on. My daughter must have stepped right on top of the nest, she started screaming, running in circles, then ran toward the house yelling "run for your life!" At that point, I had no idea what was going on (I went to the front door when I heard the screaming) and she ran through the house screaming as my husband came in. I finally saw that there were hornets all over the back of her shirt and pants. I grabbed her and threw her in the shower, stripped off her clothes, and sprayed the hornets off and down the drain. I pulled out a couple of leftover stingers, put baking soda paste on the stings, and gave her Benadryl. The neighbor girl got stung four times and they have no idea how many times the puppy got stung :( I just couldn't believe how many times she got stung! I sat and cuddled her for an hour with an epi-pen in my pocket. I am allergic and I can't believe I didn't get stung when I tossed her in the shower.
Poor girl... She is cuddled up next to me on the couch watching a movie we let her pick.
