Is about a 3 hour drive from us. I was thinking of visiting there for spring break. I heard the beaches there were better than here in Mississippi. What are some other things to do with kids there?

There is a zoo and Waterville may or may not be open (depends on when your Spring Break is).
Eta.. Google the little zoo that could

As much as I love GulfShores, I avoid crowds.

If you want to go to a quiet, low key beach, hop over to Navarre. It's just on the other side of Pensacola.

Ugh... I miss the coast :(.

Quieter and a cleaner beach, clearer water too.

Is that the same zoo that had a tv series about hurricane Katrina?

Go over to Orange Beach. It's right there buy Gulf Shores, just a nice, and not as crowded.

A cheap hotel it the Sleep Inn on perdeo beach blvd, and then there is a condo right next door (can't remember the name for the life of me) that is great and really affordable.

I love that zoo.  We have a friend who is a zoo keeper there.  They have fun animal encounters.  Our two kids got to hold a joey.

When I was in high school way back when my neighbor's girl friend worked there and would sometime bring the babies home if if was unusually cold. She brought a lion cub home one night. It was pretty cool. Smelled bad though lol.

I prefer Pensacola area if I'm going to actually get in the water.

Our beaches aren't that bad. I mean, the water is gross, but the beaches themselves aren't that bad. Some of the more popular fishing areas along the beach could use some more attention. Assholes can't pick up after themselves :(
