Dh is a disabled vet an gets a pension from the VA. We had our 2nd child 6 months ago. As soon as we got everything we needed, SS# and birth certificate, we sent it all in to the VA for our son to be put on as a dependant. He has ChampVA now and had it since he was 2 months old, but we have yet to be paid the dependant pay. We aren't hurting for money, but it would be nice to have that extra little bit to help with clothes for the baby or to put back into a savings account. Every time we call the VA about it we are told its pending. o_o How long did it take you to get the dependant pay for a new baby? When we added my oldest son it only took 2 months. I don't understand why its taking so long with our youngest.

We are also still waiting on his permanent disability claim. He had major back surgery recently from an injury he suffered while he was in and that might take up to a year. It's crazy!

It all depends on the timing. The VA tends to get really backed up off and on with paperwork so it can take forever. When my hubby first filed for his disability it took well over a year to start getting the monthly check.

It's hurry up and wait with the va. Everything is at a snails pace and when you call expect for an hour on the phone. My husband goes through the va for school and they drag their feet for paying for everything.

1 mom liked this

It can take a really long time but atleast they will back pay you from the time it is submitted so when you does come it should be a good lump to put where you need it.

Oh jeeeezzzzzzz I hate dealing with the VA.

My exhusband's disability status should have been 100% 3 years ago, it's still "pending."
