A friend of mine helps me out when i need help, by sending me money through paypal. we dont have the same bank, and our banks wont let us do transfers, cause they want to be pain in the asses.

so she sends it via paypal, and i transfer to my bank.

well that takes a few days. but our electricity is going to run out tomorrow.

So she suggested, that she sends me the cash to help on paypal.

then go to walmart.com and order something thats available at the store, so that 'sitetostore' has it available for today.

pay for it via paypal.

then pick it up at walmart. then take the receipt and item to the return

While i know its not the best option, and kinda dishonest, maybe even a little rude, is it illegal?

Its not hurting anyone. no one loses money. im not stealing anything.

just being a little sneaky.

ETA

electric company already said it must be ME paying the bill. its cash only, at the POS here in my city.

I didnt know about how to wire money.

UPDATE

Here is what I will be doing. Thanks all for the help!!

Im going to return without receipt, and get a gift card, then i can use that for groceries, and use my grocery cash, for the electric bill.

i hate borrowing from peter to pay paul.

finagling bills sucks. i dont know how my husband did it :(

I'm pretty sure if you pay for it with Paypal, they'll just put the money back into your account...

They won't give you a cash refund. They will just credit the account.

You can pay your bills with Paypal too..... why can't she wire the money.

Just wire the money or give the account information to your friend and ask her to pay it directly. What you're doing is not illegal, but it is borderline immoral, and you do run the risk of them just putting it on your card rather than giving you cash back.

This. And it will take much longer to go back.

Call the electric company and try to get it pushed back a couple days.

Sounds like you need to get your life in order.....

She can western union it to you at Wal-Mart more easily and without risking getting in trouble. It she can just pay your bill over the phone with her card

That's so much work why can't she just pay your bill online for you? Or send the check to electric company?

Right. Unless you paid cash, they won't ever give you cash back.
