Because it is not equal. It can think, talk or thrive in its own. It is nothing. And not fetus should ever have more rights than the living, feeling mother.

Quoting Anonymous:

And why shouldn't they have equal rights?

Just curious, where'd you get that? I have an urge to post it on my Facebook.

That other body is attached to mine, feeding off of mine and can not live without mine .... Therefore it is my choice.

Yes, and not having sex eliminates the possibility of pregnancy before its an issue. *Eye roll* unless its done BEFORE 4 weeks it is a life with a beating heart and emotions.

Quoting brettsmomma:

An abortion gets rid of the possibility of life not an actual life.

I agree.

Then how would the mother have equal rights without infringing upon those of the fetus?

It's a loaded question. A mother's "right" to convenience shouldn't outweight a fetus's right to life.

Quoting HIJKLM:

How exactly would the fetus have "equal" rights without infringing on the mothers rights?

I realize that. I was commenting on the poster's second paragraph.

Quoting Anonymous:

If her state allows it she can. Most states ban elective abortion past 22 to 24 weeks, which is also when it is estimated a fetus is viable.

Over 91% of abortions that do occur, do so at 12 weeks or LESS gestation.

Quoting Anonymous:

So if a mother wants to terminate past viability, then what?

Quoting Anonymous:

FYI most abortions don't happen that late.

Also, when that life can be on it's own w/o needing another life then let's talk.

If it's murder, then why aren't the prisons full of women who had abortions?

Most states have restrictions on late term abortions.
