Is she asking too much?

I know a woman who is looking for a daily baby sitter for her 2 kids.

She doesn't understand why no one has wanted the job (he's put up fliers, posted on a county page, in the newspaper etc.) and asked me if I have an idea why.

I told her I'm not sure.

I think maybe she might be asking too much for what she can pay, and maybe that's why. But since I don't baby sit and don't have a babysitter I'm not sure and wanted to get some other opinions/input before I mentioned it too her.

She needs a baby Sitter for two kids.

From 5:30 am - 6:30 pmon Monday thru Friday.

They must provide meals and snacks.

They must have a vehicle to get them to pre-school in the next town over (half hour away.)

Their home must be smoke and pet free.

They must have a place for the kids to take a nap.

They must allow the children to play outside as much as possible.

They must keep the kids on the same meal time schedule she has them on.

They must be willing to bathe the kids.

She can pay $100-$120 a week tops.

Like I said, I feel like she may he expecting alot for that pay. Especially since she wants them to take them to preschool in a town a half an hour away.

But I don't have any expierence with this and don't know If this is a typical list of "musts" with a typical pay. But it seems to me that a half hour drive to and from preschool everyday is gonna rack up alot of gas money. Plus food and stuff. And that's not alot of pay. But again, I'm not sure how much is a typical pay for this.

Tell her to get back on her rocker because she has fallen off of it.

Lol that's crazy. I understand her expectations (apart from the bathing, that's just weird to me) but $120? Seriously?

How many hours are the kids at pre-school? She needs to offer an hourly rate.

With gas prices and grocery prices the sitter would end up working for free. Her demands aren't too much, her pay is WAY too low.

Well that was my first thought too. But I only have a 16 month old and have never had anyone but fil baby sit. So I don't know what's typical and what isn't.

The food and gas for taking them to pre school would cost more than that a week. So the babysitter would be spending their own money to watch someone elses kids.

The other things are not unreasonable requests.

Yes its WAY to much.

For the amount she is willing to pay, yes she is asking too much. It sounds like she wants a live in nanny and she will have to pay way more than that.

That was my thinking. Especially with driving them to preschool everyday. It's at least a half hour drive there and back, everyday. That's alot of gas money.
