They will never know the joys of...

Riding bikes without being padded up like football players.

Comparing scars to see whose is the biggest and nastiest.

Playing outside all day and drinking out of the water hose.

Climbing trees.

Going outside empty handed and still finding something fun to do for hours.

Chasing the icecream truck all over the neighborhood.

To be engrossed in a book...where you have to turn actual paper pages.

Playing games that aren't on a screen and involve other neighborhood kids.

They're missing out on so much. Sigh.

My kids drink from the water hose all the time in the summer, and my oldest DD (the only one that knows how to read) is ALWAYS reading. Books. Not an ipad/nook/whatever. We have actual BOOKS filling the shelves in this house.

Hmmm! I don't about your kids but mine play in our big back yard, climb trees, ride bikes and scooters with a Helmet on ( no padding) they fall and scrape their knees often ( not something to miss)! My kids love to read actual books instead of reading from their iPad! So no need too feel sorry for them, only thing is they don't chase they ice cream truck around, they preffer frozen yogurt anyhow,, o.0

My children do not miss out on any of those. Especially since moving to our new place. There are tons of kids here and they all at outside together. My kids would rather be outside playing with their friends than in the house watching tv. They don't have any game systems or electronics so that isn't an issue anyway.

They also won't have the satisfaction of walking to the 711 with their friends at 10 years old because parents are too afraid of kids being kidnapped.

My kids ride bikes without any protection, compare scars all the time, They climb trees, play outside all day.  Have no problem with just playing and finding something to do.  My son has read every paper book in the middle school library in 2 yrs and literally there wasn't one he hasn't read.  My other kids read paper books everyday. We also play family board games all the time.

So not one thing have you listed this generation of kids don't do in this house.
