Is this "stealing"?

My boyfriend and I got into a car accident. It was a chain reaction and so we are not at fault. We were the last and 3rd car in the chain.

My boyfriend's bumper is cracked so he is going to get a new one.
I've been around guys who know cars. But I've never met anyone who knows as much about cars as him.
He wants to rig his truck so that it drives shaky to get more money out of the insurance company. He works at a dealership so this can easily be done.

What are we planning to do with the money? Well he wants to spend it. I want to take it and pay off my insurance on all 3 of our vehicles for the whole year. I figure if we pay the insurance company it's a win-win for all.

I think I'm barely on page 5 of responses. Thank you for answering my question. I honestly didn't know how serious this was if my boyfriend rigged his truck. I sent him a text saying basically we shouldn't do this and he text back saying he was thinking about it today and knows not to do it. So we won't be doing anything illegal... Promise. Thanks. I honestly didn't know.

That's insurance fraud and it's illegal. If you get caught, you can go to jail.

I worked in auto claims, I have seen a lot of stuff and you're fooling yourself if you think a trained adjustor won't know the difference between genuine auto accident damage and sabotage.

Also, it isn't a win-win for all. It's a lose-lose for everyone else that pays for insurance since fraud like this increases cost across the board.
