My mom got a pair of sperry's for my daughter at one store. I opened them up and they were the boy's kind. My daughter wanted Sperry's, but she wanted the girls kind with a certain print on them. My mom is sensitive about this stuff and so I didn't mention it or ask her to return them. I went back to the store where she bought them to see if they had the kind my daughter wanted so I could do an exchange. No go. They didn't have em.
So, while I'm out, I to into another shop to look around. That store sells both the boys pair that I have and the girls pair that she wants. So I go out to the car, get the pair I have and tell them my mom got the wrong kind and I want to exchange them. There was maybe a $10 difference, so I paid the $10 and exchanged them at a different store from where they were purchased.
They were brand new--never worn, the box was intact, the stuffing was still in them, they could put them right back on the shelf and sell them for full price. So I say it wasn't stealing. The store isn't out anything. In fact, they're $10 richer than they were before.
My husband says it's stealing.
