I got acrylic tips today for the first time ever and my nails hurt! It's driving me insane!!! Is this normal? Like an adjustment period?

Yes, it will subside within a day or two. That gel or acrylic dries and shrinks a bit pulling your nail a bit.

Sometimes if your nails are thin or you have a bad manicurist it hurts but it should stop hurting in a day or two. Do not try to pop them off if it hurts though, that will make it worse. If you have to remove them either go to the salon to have them removed or pick up some acetone nail remover liquid from a beauty supply store and soak them to remove them. But if you have thin nails the filing may have thinned them more and removing them will hurt more. And in the future, speak up if it hurts while they're doing it.

Acrylic is horrible for your nails. If your nails have been filed down week after week, your nail bed is slowly being depleted until all you have is nerve tissue on your fingers. In other words yes, your fingers should hurt. Stop with the fake nails. You're going to end up with an infection. Nails should never hurt.
