Exactly why my 13yo is not allowed to have a facebook. This is suppossed to be a TEENAGE page. Does this outrage anyone else?

**Warning: Facebook page contains inappropriate pics**

It might, but truthfully I think it just makes less work for them to have to find it.  Its not like there is anything on that page they wont be figuring out at about that age anyway.

Quoting Double.Life:

no, but I think it brings it to their attention. :/

Quoting Iron_Beauty:

Innapropriate yes, but it isn't like teenagers wont find this kind of shit without facebook.

Thats why you don't let your child have a facebook? You don't feel you could successfully monitor what they're doing?

My 13yo has had a facebook since she was 9. I just parent her along the way, so it's not an issue for us.

Why did a 9yo need a facebook?

I wish the facebook thing stayed for people in college.

My 10 year old brother likes "big booty bitchesz" on fb. If he didn't see it there than he'd see it somewhere else. It's the world we live in today, there's not much you can censor. Unless, of course, you chain your kids up in the basement.

Point is, a 9yo shouldn't have a FB.
And since its not a need... that should be enough.
Imo obviously

I have a facebook, it's not a need. But I still have one, lol.

We're all on here. It's not a need, yet here we are.

Thats a ridiculous line to draw.

Which is why it's important to monitor your teens while they're online.

They're children. They don't need privacy online. Period.

My 8 year old dd has friends with fb pages. They don't use them much, but that is just ridiculous imo. Not to mention, kids are usually annoying when they start posting stuff. I know....if I don't like it, block them. But how about not giving your kid an fb to begin with.

Quoting pinkfairy0206:

oh wow, I thought I was the only one without a Facebook account! I totally agree.my oldest daughter is 11, her friends have facebook Instagram Twitter, really?? they all try to get her to convince me that she needs one, lol. her friend even wrote up a whole page for me about how she can have a private account on Instagram.

Quoting 2ArfarasMom:

Well that's not clicky for me but I don't see why a teen needs Facebook anyway. I don't have one. It's a chance for pedophiles to try to find a victim, place for bullies to do what they do... I just don't think that Facebook is a necessity
