Oh, I never thought you had that ability.

Quoting couture-mommy:

The comment was because I didn't want you to think I was attacking your mothering.

But hey, whatever.

Quoting christina0607:

My children also use it for what it's intended for. I'm very aware that I'm not a horrible mother, lol. Niot usre where that comment came from. Oh well.

Quoting couture-mommy:

I use Facebook for what its intended for.. reconnecting with people from highschool, college, and family.

But I stand with my comment.

We parent differently, that's fine.

Doesn't make either of us horrible mothers, just different parenting styles

Quoting christina0607:

Having a facebook doesn't turn a 9yo into an adult. It's not Zoltar(that might go over your head).

Facebook isn't evil, I have to wonder what you use facebook for that have such a ridiculous view.

Oooh! Good idea! I think I'm going to try that!

Quoting kristen0812:

My 10 year old brother likes "big booty bitchesz" on fb. If he didn't see it there than he'd see it somewhere else. It's the world we live in today, there's not much you can censor. Unless, of course, you chain your kids up in the basement.

I reported one of the photos where there was clearly nipple. If fb will take down a picture of my daughter on my chest for the first time after being born where there is barely a glimpse of areola, it is completely wrong to have these pornographic pictures on there.

I am on fb all the time. Dd has asked for one. She was begging for a while. I told her she could get on mine if she wanted. She got excited, checked it out and was bored quickly. When she asks why she can't have her own, one of the reasons is fb's age requirement. We teach her not to lie and how would lying about her age be any different.

Quoting pinkfairy0206:

exactly! I'm kind of thinking that some of these parents might not even know they have one. it is so crazy how young and younger the kids are getting now having a social networking accounts. this is the only account I have here on cafe mom. my daughter is very

Quoting jujubear1:

My 8 year old dd has friends with fb pages. They don't use them much, but that is just ridiculous imo. Not to mention, kids are usually annoying when they start posting stuff. I know....if I don't like it, block them. But how about not giving your kid an fb to begin with.

Quoting pinkfairy0206:

oh wow, I thought I was the only one without a Facebook account! I totally agree.my oldest daughter is 11, her friends have facebook Instagram Twitter, really?? they all try to get her to convince me that she needs one, lol. her friend even wrote up a whole page for me about how she can have a private account on Instagram.

Quoting 2ArfarasMom:

Well that's not clicky for me but I don't see why a teen needs Facebook anyway. I don't have one. It's a chance for pedophiles to try to find a victim, place for bullies to do what they do... I just don't think that Facebook is a necessity

Sorry!

Exactly! They took down my comment about Miley Cyrus, but think it's acceptable to have this crap?!

Are you kidding me?

My son is only seven months old.....

How can you police everything? Do you get on and look at every friend's page and every friends' likes pages? You can't possibly govern all they see online. Do you stand over them as they are on Facebook? Do you make them get your approval before posting pictures or statuses? Even deleting stuff on Facebook doesn't take it away, so once they post something it's there forever. A 9 year just can't understand that completely.

Quoting christina0607:

My kids have had no problem with facebook. It it's somehting your children can't handle then don't let them use it. Seems pretty simple.

Quoting newmom3012:

Internet safety is a huge issue for ADULTS. Now take a 9 year old who lacks maturity and understanding - do you really think they're equipped to deal with thematic and safety issues of being "online" at that age? I don't.

No one NEEDS Facebook, but pre-pubescent kids need to be protected FROM Facebook. How do you not understand that distinction? It's not like she was saying your kid can't eat dinner and then have dessert as a treat....she's saying your 9 year old shouldn't have a Facebook account because it's dangerous.
