TO CLARIFY :
I wrote the OP from the prespective of the neighbor with the creepy husband. I was looking for opinions about how you would feel if you saw your neighbor walking around in her 'underwear'.
The ETA and update are what really happen. I am the underwear neighbor.
DH never came to bed last night. Around midnight I went out to the garage to see what he was doing. All the lights were off and he was sitting in the bed of his truck looking across the street at the neighbor's house.
Suddenly, the neighbor's wife came walking into view. The living room lights were on and the blinds were open, so we could clearly see into their house. All she was wearing was a thin tank top and her underwear.
I feel this is very inappropriate. Anybody walking by could clearly see that she was hardly wearing anything. I feel like I should confront her, but I'm not sure if I should do it directly or write her a letter.
We live in a family friendly neighborhood with lots of kids. Normally we're all friendly and talkative to one another, but these neighbors moved in a few months ago and we haven't met them yet.
I posted this because I wanted to get your opinions on seeing the neighbor walking around in her ‘underwear' (which, not that it makes a difference, was a tank top and a pair of boy shorts).
We're getting new furniture today, so last night I decided to do a bit of late night cleaning. I'm just now getting a small pregnancy bump and none of my clothes are comfortable. My windows and blinds were open; the weather has finally cooled off, and the breeze feels wonderful. I was working on the whole first level of the house and was not solely parading around the living.
I was in the kitchen (which is out of view), when I heard a door slam. I came around the corner and saw my neighbors standing outside. The garage light had come on. My male neighbor was sitting in the back of his truck, facing my house. He had a small pile of beer cans next to him, so I assume he'd been out there for a while. I heard his wife complaining that she'd been waiting up for him for a few hours and ask him what he was doing. I didn't hear him answer because she started saying, "I can't believe she thinks that's appropriate."
I started turning off all the lights, but instead of going to bed, I stood by the window (out of view obviously). The neighbor started going on about how slutty I was and that I was ‘flaunting' it for all the neighbors to see. She started saying that I was setting a bad example and she was going to confront me for ‘putting on a show for the neighbors.'
She hasn't come over yet, but if she does I'll remind her that it was well past midnight and her creepy husband was the one acting inappropriately.
We've been out of town for BIL's birthday, so I wasn't able to update yesterday.
Yesterday started out quiet. DH went out with his best friend, and I hung out with SS. It was a drizzly day, so we ordered pizza and lazed around. The neighbors were home, too. The husband was in the garage all day; I never saw the wife.
DH, his friend, and the furniture guys all showed up around 1:30. DH and his friend went outside to offer help, and I stayed inside. They just started unloading, when the neighbor showed up.
She came waltzing up onto my porch and came straight through my front door. She said, "I'm sorry for intruding, but do you mind if I talk to you for a moment?"
First - Why did you choose now, when I obviously have company, to come talk to me?
Second - You just came walking through my front door UNINVITED!
I was still nice and said, "Sure. What's up?"
She said, "I woke up last night and noticed that your light was still on. I saw you walking around and what you were wearing was pretty inappropriate."
I said, "I'm sorry that you feel that way, but what I choose to wear in my house after hours is my business."
She said, "You need to be careful, because you never know who might be watching."
I said, "Actually, I am aware of who was watching. They need to be careful, because I believe peeping is much more serious."
Without saying anything she stormed out. I walked out onto the porch and saw her stomp up to DH, our friend, and the moving guys.
She said to DH, "You need to keep a better eye on your wife. She was putting on a show for everyone last night, and I don't find that very appropriate."
DH, who normally is a nice guy said, "It sounds like you need to keep a better eye on your husband. He was part of the audience and I don't find that very appropriate either."
She marched off in a huff. It was awkward for a moment, but everyone moved on.
