*Update nurse called me back* 101.2 fever and heavy coughing in a 9 month old?

I'm waiting for a call back from the overnight nurse right now.
He's nine months old. Fever is 101.2. He has a wet cough where you can hear the flem. He's also just started a runny nose.
He had surgery in Thursday but it couldn't be an infection could it? Infections cause fevers but not cold symptoms.
I just gave him some infant acetaminophen before calling the doctors office.
Can it wait another four hours until the office opens? His flem is bad enough we he had to stop and cough in order to breath right again.

The surgery was for hypospadias repair and circumcision.

She told me to come in at 9 when the office opens (love this practice they are open seven days a week). Is the surgical site swells or there are red lines, if his lips turn blue or a rash appears or if his temp goes above 105 then go to ER. So for now ill keep an eye on him.

What kind of surgery was it?

I think calling the nurse was the best call.

If his fever goes past 102 I would bring him to the er, but if it starts to do down from the acetaminophen than take him to to his pedi Monday. Try cold comprasses or a luke warm bath

Breathing problems are ALWAYS important enough for an ER visit in my book. Especially in a LO. WHen he breathes, does it suck in near his ribs or at the base of his throat? Have you counted respirations?

I hope he feels better ASAP! Hugs!

I'd worry about pneumonia. What type of surgery was it it?

What kind of surgery was it? It probably could wait (if it had to) till the office opened but I think it's best that you called the nurse. Hopefully she will call you back soon.

As long as his temp doesn't go over 103.0 he'll be fine. His body is fighting an infection. Your core body temp goes up to kill foreign antigens. Don't worry mom, pump the Tylenol every 4 hrs and baby will be fine.

My sister had just been sick and it made her miserable for a week I'm worried he caught it.
