if they have to cover all employees how would their hours change. Would it make any difference if they work 1 hour a week?

Yeah, that meme is bullshit. While the law doesn't enact for a bit longer, the companies have to do a bunch of work leading up to it which includes preparing for insurance.

Obamacare is not causing most companies to cut hours. Companies themselves are choosing to take strategies to maximize corporate profit, which includes not providing adequate health coverage for their workers, which leads to cutting hours. This is why we need health insurance to be independent of employers. Would you tolerate this bull over your car insurance? And how much more important is your health than a car?

Many companies have been hiring part time for years so they didn't have to offer benefits. This has been going on long before Obamacare. They just have a scapegoat to blame it on now.

Companies won't have to pay for insurance for anyone working under 30 hours a week, so that is why a lot of cuts are coming and more people will have to work two part time jobs instead of one full time job.

That's because their insurance costs for full time members have already gone up, thanks to higher premiums, douche. Coverage has already increased under obamacare, therefore so have the premiums.

Somebody should smack you back.

Shhhh. No one wants to hear that companies want to make bigger profits at the expense of middle income workers.

Companies have been cutting hours steadily for nearly 30 years. The Federal Labor Bureau has changed what qualifies as full time over those years as well. We've gone from 40 hours to 35, to 32. The ACA is just the latest justification for hour reduction. But I'm sure someone will find some way to blame the ACA for  this steady decline in hours for hourly employees.

That particular change JUST changed earlier this month. Up until that point it was scheduled to start Jan. 1, 2015.
