My sister signed a lease for a house. 820 was the rent.

She decided after she signed it but before move in she didn't want the place after all.

Her landlord said that's fine. But you're going to need to pay the remaining months of the lease.
She asked to sublease it...and he said absolutely not.
So now she's in a bind and plans to just say screw the bastard.

But

She signed the lease. I understand why her landlord is doing this.

Either move in or pay him what you said you'd would when you signed the lease.

My sister is a idiot. She's publicly bashing this guy for something she did. Since most people are anti landlord they're siding with her.
Me? I am on landlord side.

I agree with the landlord. Your sister wasted his time and he took the house off the market thinking someone was moving in. Why should he be financially screwed over this month. Your sister is definitely at fault and she needs to pay the months rent.

I am too... don't worry, it'll follow her through her renters history and no one will want to rent to her

I see his deal, but at the same time I don't. He could just say pay me this month in rent since no one else could move in and I will rip up the lease

The landlords right. He could have offered to let her out of the lease if she found a new renter tho, but in the meantime she had to pay the rent.

Landlords side. Maybe she can find someone to take over her lease and not sublet...
