I know there is a mama in here with a service dog for seizures. I was wondering if she, or other moms with knowledge on the subject, know if a person has to have grand mal seizures to get a service dog?
I ask because my daughter has seizures but they are called absence seizures. They pretty much look like day dreaming, but the concern is they can continue to do what is called automatic action, like walking.
I have concerns because she has hurt herself during seizures before. She had a seizure while riding her bike and she rode into the back of a car face first and broke her nose. another time, she had one while crossing the street and walked directing into moving traffic and came close to getting hit. if her sister wasn't next to her to grab her she very well could have.
I know there is a long waiting list for these things too. She has a wonderful german shepherd. are there places that could train a dog she already has?
