Breastfeeding for too long. My spin.

For Mothers who want to breastfeed their children long after they are a toddler. What do you think if women just pumped?

If we took the breast out of the equation completely after the children are considered "too old."

Would it then bother you so much?

I stopped when my kids were 1 1/2 yrs old...but I would think for those that do go farther...that they are doing it for the bonding...not for the nutrition.  In other countries mothers do nurse a lot longer than in the US...but I do think some women here go "too long" just to make a statement.   For those that go past 2.....I would think they would be considerate of others to do it in private....

Not everyone can pump. And straight from the tap is best!

Pumping doesn't work the same. The child's mouth tells the breast which nutrients it needs.

Also religious reasons.
I am Muslim, we are supposed to nurse to at least two.

I did it until just after he turned 2, I don't think it NEEDS to be done in private until over 4

I have heard people say many times on here that you should just pump and put it in a cup once they get past a certain age. So yes, I think it's the whole brestfeeding from the tap that bugs them.

I nursed until 3. It was mostly a comforting thing for him at that point. I stopped pumping at 16 months because it sucked.
