Do you get along with other moms your age in your area?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
I kind of do but not really. I live in a fairly conservative area in Texas and the moms my age around here are all very straight-laced. I've been told that I'm a very friendly person, but a lot of these women don't seem to want to associate with me because I'm not like them. I hate "normal" and strive to be unique and an individual.

They also don't seem to do anything but mommy and wife things. I refuse to lose my identity because I became a wife and mother. I have my own hobbies and interests outside of my kids and family, and I feel like I'm resented because of that. I do a lot of stuff with my kids and husband, but I also like to have time to myself. I believe it's important for a parent to have time to themselves. I don't go out all the time or every weekend though, but if the opportunity to go out comes up and I can financially go and I have someone to watch the kids, I'm going!

Does anyone else have a problem with making mommy friends?

I don't know any other teenaged moms here.

The only one I did know, she was too selfish to even be able to maintain custody of her son...
She cared more about drugs, parties, and sex.
And she had no problem admitting it.
She eventually passed away while pregnant with twins, she overdosed.
They were named in her obituary, so she was probably far along enough for them to be given names.
Last I knew she was huge, so probably 7+ months.
I cried for those babies, and for her. It never should've happened.

And I'm on a different scale for "teen" moms.
I'm 19, but I'm married and pregnant with my second.
The first wasn't planned. But this one was. Most people frown upon me. But I'm married and surviving happily.
I can't afford designer wardrobes or acrylic nails, because we spend our extra money providing extras for our kiddos.
I love watching my dd do a new puzzle more than I love shiny nails. (Maybe ;) )

I would love a friend, but I don't see that happening.

Interesting. What are your friendship standards?

I feel the same way. I am only 20 years old so I find it hard to find moms my age, let alone moms my age that I actually get along with! I too consider myself to be outside what society perceives as "normal" so it's difficult for me to find people in GENERAL that I want to be friends with let alone specifically moms my age. :/

Where in TX are you? I'm close to San Antonio.

Quoting 2ltlmonkeyz:
