Ds has been sick since Monday morning. Here's what's been going on. He is almost 6 btw.

Monday morning 5:15-ds wakes up, throws up once then has diarrhea until about noon. Diarrhea has him running to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes sometimes. After noon, he is fine. Ate some toast and a banana and acts completely normal.

Tuesday-Woke up at Midnight and threw up about 3-4 times. Went back to bed. Woke up at 6am with diarrhea again until about 10-11. After that again eats some toast and a banana and then a few crackers later in the evening. Acting completely normal.

Last night-Wakes up at 1145 throwing up again. Throws up a few times until about 145. Goes to bed. Wakes up at 615 this morning and we are back to the diarrhea.

I called the dr yesterday and they said just a stomach bug and to give a few more days but idk. Do you think I should call back again today? Is there anything else I should be doing for him? This is the first time he's ever had any type of stomach bug and it's completely new to me. I've been sick plenty of times in my life, but not like this. Like why the waking up in the middle of the night throwing up and then nothing until diarrhea every morning? Kwim? I just feel like I should be doing something.

Help!!

**Also, he had a cold about 3 weeks ago but still has the cough. Went to the dr last week for his physical and dr said everything sounds fine and sometimes it just takes a while for the cough to go away. But really, three weeks?

Is he eating dairy before bed? Like some ice cream? It could be upsetting his tummy while he is asleep and not effecting him until morning bc we digest much slower when sleeping..

My son was sick like that with the norovirus for about 3 weeks. If it gets worse they can give him fluids for dehydration and something for the nausea but that's about it.

Then I would call a Gastro Dr. It sounds like some kind of bacterial thing, and if your pedo wont listen go some where else..

Really? With the random throwing up in the middle of the night and then only diarrhea in the morning/afternoon?

That's kind of what I was thinking but every one is telling me it's just the stomach bug and it can last several days. Just the whole thing seems weird to me.

Well,it seems to be more of a morning-early afternoon thing then an all day thing. That's not how bugs usually work. Unless he just got a really unlucky annoying one.

Yep. I thought he had something seriously wrong with him. Took him to idk how many doctors, the ER, a specialist and it turned out he just had the norovirus. I will say that if he keeps doing it I would get a referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist because it could be something more serious. They will run test and make sure it's not parasitic or something in his gut making him sick. Just keep an eye on him and if he is not better force his pedi to give you a referral.
