My terrible Mommy Confession (I hope I am not alone!)

1 mom liked this

I love my son. And I love to read. But I absolutely HATE  reading to him. I have always, even in school as a kid, hating reading out loud. It distracts me from the story, plus my mouth gets all dry and its just severely annoying. Every time he asks me to read him a story I have a voice in my head that goes "NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

Also I hate when he wants to help me cook or bake.  To be clear, I do read to him when he asks and I do let him help me cook when he asks, but I never offer him to help me.

Anyone else? Please tell me I am not the only terrible mom!!

I love reading to my kids and letting them help with simple stuff while cooking or baking.

Time spent with them in anyway I love
though.

I liked the reading, but I'm with you on the kitchen help. I also hated pretend play.

I keep a glass of water close when I read. I understand not wanting to....but! I really love readong and hope to instill that in my kids.
Same here with the cooking. I kick them out of the kitchen when I am preparing meals, most of the time. They do help occasionally:) they def help whem we are makong something fun like cookies.

no it isnt terrible. when i am reading i  enjoy reading aloud that doesnt bother me, but when they take the book from me and asks the same question over and over that drives me nuts. so i have a three question rule you get three and if you take the book away we are done reading and bed time- 10 am take the book from me nap time, 730 take the book away bed time- my son is still a little too young but hes getting it. my 4 yr old girl gets it which shes my talker so its more for her on that part
