A freaking RAT ran in my house

I opened my back door this morning to let the dog out and a RAT ran in.  I mean...it was like he was waiting there for me.  My dog went apeshit.  The kid flipped out.  I grabbed a broom and chased the damn thing all over the place.  The dog was chasing both of us.  And now the RAT is under my couch and I can't lift it on my own.  I keep poking under there with the broom and he keeps dodging me.

SOMEONE SAVE ME.

There is a huge overgrown field behind our house.  It is fenced off and separate.  But we get lots of furries in our yard.  But this is the first time one has come into the house.  It was like he was just hanging out waiting for the door to open so he could run in.

Haha, I'm sorry but the visual here is hilarious.

Keep trying to shoo him. He'll eventually go. They can get aggressive, though, so make sure you all stay safe. They have a nasty bite, and wild animal bites are no joke.

My dog would be cowering in another room - the dog and my husband are freaked out by furries and bugs in the house.
