Daycare tells me to not write on diapers. WWYD? :ETA: *update*

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

So I am a single mom, I use a in home daycare. (currently looking for a better one after this).

My son is 9 months, and I give both Diapers and Wipes every Monday. Well since he started this daycare three months ago he was going through diapers very quickly. Even with the state standard of every two hours changing him, so I decided to write on them across the butt with his name. I did this on Monday, well I did this to the whole bag. The Owner told me " You can not do this to the diapers, or you will need to find a new daycare." So I according to our contract gave her my two week notice for him leaving here care. She said " I was being a crazy young mom, this is why young people shouldnt have kids, you're not calm enough".

Am I being a "crazy young mom"? ( I am 22 by the way, if that makes a difference.)

ETA:

Wow didnt know this would pop so quick most my post die lol

I was giving a Large box of pamapers size 4, 92 diapers. I over shot it on purpose in case of well diaper days, were from the normal amount a child decides to fill their diaper every 15 mins lol. We've all had that as moms. He is there only 6 hours a day Monday through Friday, from 8am to 2pm. His dad picks him up at 2pm when he gets off work and I work from 9am to 6pm.

The problem "he was going through all his diapers" according to her, some how he was going through all 92 the 30 hours a week he was in daycare. So last Sunday I bought a box, and wrote on the butt of every diaper, on the small elastic part, with a sharpie. Left them all out to dry, and put them all back in the box. (Ok now it sounds insane, but that was $32 a week it adds up.)

Either way I am looking into centers, his father has aggreed to share the cost now.

*update*

Ok first off, wow featured lol, second I have read every reply and good to see im not crazy. My sons aunt (dads sister) is going to watch him over the next week while we look into a new one.

We are considering a large chain like Kindercare. Pricey but after this his father is wanting to go to a well known place.

Don't all parents send their kids diapers? o_0 I don't understand why the caregiver would feel obligated to steal diapers from one customer to use on another...if one kid was short, shouldn't that parent reimburse or send more diapers?

Am I missing something?

1 mom liked this

I wonder if she wasnt returning the diapers to the store to make more money...seems to me like the amount you sent would be enough to last for a few weeks and since you wrote on all the diapers she got mad because she couldnt return them

I wouldn't go well known. To me that means less personalized care mostly by young people who are off being irresponsible after. That's just me!

I would find a small in home daycare that is very good.

I am sorry the other lady was such a whack job.

You know she was using your son's diapers on other kids.

i have done the same thing in my own home only i numbered them to make sure my baby was chanced... i had a less then reliable sitter with my first child who wouldnt change the baby's diaper all day.. and i could prove it because  numbered them!! there is no way anyone can explan why in the 8+ hours i was at work the baby wasnt changed, not even once.  i numbered those things from 1-12, just incase he had one of those days.. and i always changed him before i left. there is no excuse for the baby to still be in the same diaper i put him in before i left for work! imo

so no your not cazy for what you did. even if your child was having one of those days theres no way he would go through that many diapers. clearly the lady was using them on other child which i have heard happens all the time.

I worked at a daycare center for three years and we had parents write kids names on diapers so the parents would know we werent using them on other kids and to keep it straight on which diaper belonged to who. Not crazy

This lady is scamming you! I would be weary about leaving my baby those last two weeks.

WTH...When my child was in dipaers, her school required you to provide 20 diapers at the beginning of the week and you were required to put her name on each.

Why would they have an issue with this? It is your child and your diapers you pay for... I really want to know their reasoning for telling you this would get your child kicked out of daycare..smh

Glad you are looking some where else. I myself would have had choice words for his young mom comment as well, because it was unprofessional and unwarranted!

I agree!

Quoting mattsgirl22521:

Uh no. Diapers are expensive and she's clearly using them for the other kids in her care if she's going through them so quickly.
