I am not against people and families getting help when needed but it's irritating that half the population on fs and welfare are obese with endless health issues. Why can't the government give food vouchers for actual food instead of fs being used for garbage junk food and soda? Why not make the vouchers for specific nutritional values instead of just about anything in the store?

How would that impact the number of people using assistance?

Edit:

Oh I get what you are saying -- because of their health issues.

I can tell you first thing people will want you to cite the sources for your information.  Where does it say half the FS population is obese?

I don't think it would limit the number, but wouldn't it be nice to know that the government's money is going to help feed families in a healthy way?

I'm wondering where you get your statistics about the health issues and obesity issues of those using food stamps?

It is true that the more uneducated a person is the more likely they are to have bad eating habits or not be as informed about healthy eating habits, and the less educated a person is the higher chance that they are going to need some sort of government assistance at some point in their lives, be it food stamps or not.
