Compliments leave me feeling good all day, criticism on the other hand upsets me momentarily then I get on with my day

Depends.

Honest compliments can make my day, but the "I don't really mean this, but I need something from you so I might as well suck up a little" compliments piss me off.

Empty criticism also pisses me off. If you don't have anything helpful to contribute, you don't get to put down my way. Constructive criticism, on the other hand, that I always welcome.

Compliments. I always want to live up to compliments and not let people down. If I get criticism, I know I have already let people down.

Criticism. I still remember many things people said to me.

Neither.  I'm old enough not to give a damn what anybody thinks of me,---one of the benefits of getting up there.

Criticism I can usually blow off. I find most of the time when people are being overly critical of you they have issues themselves and are just deflecting on the person they chose to criticize. Coaching someone or guiding them can be very constructive and empowering. Being critical or criticizing others is usually destructive and harmful.

Compliments usually come from a genuine place and are said with the intentions of making the receiver feel good about themselves. Compliments big or small typically have a positive impact on your day.
