Teen's 'Selfie' With Laboring Pregnant Teacher Is Causing an Uproar

by Ericka Sóuter

selfieIn general, teens aren't known for their good judgment. We all know, they are prone to silly, impractical choices sometimes. Well, one class cut-up is getting a lot of heat for a selfie he snapped at school. In the controversial photo, Malik Whiter is sporting a big smile whie his teacher is suffering through labor pains in the background.

Now he is getting slammed for flippantly capturing the moment. Take a look.

tweet

The Florida teen tweeted the image along with the caption, "Selfie with my teacher while she having contractions." Before snapping the pic seven-months pregnant business lecturer Susana Halleck, "I told her to smile and she said no." He took the photo anyway, saying he wanted to commemorate the moment. His teacher was rushed to the hospital, but it turned out to be a false alarm and both she and the baby are fine.

The photo has since gone viral and people are outraged that he would choose to show his teacher in such an anguished moment. But honestly, people need to relax. It wasn’t like there wasn’t someone else in the room tending to her. He’s a kid. What do people expect? It may not be the most sensitive thing to have done, but it certainly wasn't a mean-spirited action.

Thankfully Whiter isn't letting the criticism get to him. He's even thinking about making it his wallpaper!

I don't think its offensive. It would be offensive if that was his baby.

Yeahhhhh probably not the best judgement call, but I don't consider that offensive. If I were the teacher, I might be a little pissed, but this isn't really a big deal to me.

It's not offensive in the least, but this is America, people just have to find reason to be offended.

It's a bit insensitive, but I wouldn't call it offensive.

"Offensive" seems to be the word everyone's completely in love with lately.

The kid looks like he is in his twenties.  I am more offended that he's still on the public dime.
