"It takes a village to raise a child."

I've seen the village.  I'll raise my own.

I hear people say this all the time, and it rubs me the wrong way every single time.  Am I misunderstanding something?

What does this quote mean to you?

Don't you get ideas from other women and give ideas to other women? I wouldn't know shit about taking care of a child if I had a baby in the middle of the jungle lol.
Now I'm craving banana creme pie

Back in the older days I could see this working
I'm sure at some point it did just fine
Now is a different story, sadly

I think it's an excuse for idiots to be allowed to have a say in how someone else's child is raised

I don't think a village is absolutely necessary, but it sure is nice.

I don't like the quote. Quite frankly I would like the village to mind it's own business and i will raise my child myself.

Our parents and siblings help out with out two girls and we help with his sisters kids. That's what I take it as. I feel like people try to raise their kids locked up in their own little world and that's kind of sucky. I love letting friends and family be apart of my kids childhood, it gets no better.
