I am very concerned abt my boys friends

We will call them Emma and Maddy. They are sisters. Emma is 11Maddy is 5. They walk to school and back with my boys. Which is fine. I let my kids walk to school and home and there is safety in numbers. But tonight there was a party at the local community center. From 7 to 8:30. It is dark by 7 and the center is in the park. The kids showed alone! They walked home alone at 8:30. Am I overprotective or is this not ok?!

It depends on how far away the park is and how safe your neighborhood is.

Um, idk. Do you live in the hood? Is the school 7 miles away?

4 blocks and between 0 and 10 0 being no danger neighborhood would be a 4 but the park at night is more a 6.

How far away, how mature the 11 year old is, how busy the streets are...those are all factors. My older two kids would have been fine walking at night at 11, my younger two are not and will not be ready.

If you were that concerned why didn't you walk home with them or call their parents and offer them a ride home? I would be worried as well.

No. It is the community center not the school which is 4 blocks from
Where they live

I dont think they should be walking alone, it does not matter how safe the area is you never know when a creep will be out and about.

I have never met the parents I have offered before the oldest calls home and claims her. Mom never picks up
