We can't afford an IPad. Are there good books, learning apps available on Amazon that aren't too expensive?

Sign up with bookbub. You tell them your preferences and they send you a daily email with cheap and free books you can download. Usually they're under $2

I wouldn't spend that much for a 7 year old. We just got dd8 a tablet for $80 and it's great.

They do have some good books for kids on kindle. I recommend getting the amazon prime!
My ds is three and he has an iPad mini, there are lots of educational and fun kids apps for iPad as well.
My older three boys, 18,17 & 13 have the kindle fires, they like them. I prefer iPad over the kindles.

I love the kindle fire for my 11 year old and 5 year old.  There are free games and books and I find the prices very reasonable.  Books range from 99 cents to 10 bucks.  The 10 dollar books are more of my books but the kids books are cheap.
