Before we were released from the hospital, the pediatrician discovered baby Zoey has a heart murmur.  He said heart murmurs are very common, and not to be alarmed, but he was referring us to a cardiologist at a very good hospital a few hours away.  Our appointment is this Wednesday.

I've googled the shit out of heart murmurs in newborns and from what I've read, it sounds like we wouldn't have been referred to a cardiologist for further testing if there wasn't cause for concern.

I'm so in love with this tiny, beautiful little girl and I'm absolutely terrified.

If you have any experience with this, good or bad, please share.

Thank you ladies so much for the kind words and stories.  I will update again after her appointment. you rock

My one ds was found to have a heart murmur by my pediatrician just like your case.  Ds had follow up check.  Both docs said to keep track of it.  Well, my ds played grade school and high school sports, ran his butt off on crass county running and soccer teams, has run a few marathons, competes on a road bike, and is active with his 2 kids.  To date he is healthy and well, and the heart murmur is still in the background.

Awww I'm sorry hugs

my husband was born with a murmur and he is ok! His closed

I was born with a hole in my heart and I was ok until I turned 25 and irritated it. I started working out a lot and hard. I caused a tachycardia that is now irreversible. But manageable.

I will be thinking of you guys. Hugs!!

I was born with one and had to see specialists early on just to make sure it was ok. It fixed itself by the time I was around 7yrs old and I've never had problems. Even as a child I was very active and nobody ever knew my heart was a little weird.

My 13 year old had a vsd aka heart murmur. She still has it but it hasn't slowed her down. It's scary anytime they say there is something wrong with your babies heart. Just know if it was something really serious they wouldn't be releasing her.

Agreed.

Keep in mind doctors tend to refer you to a specialist for diff reasons. To double check everything is okay, get a second opinion, ease your mind and to clear themselves.
