My Therapist is Calling CPS

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
I met with her today and told her i had spanked my son and that he had 2 bruises on him. And that im not sure if they are from that or not. He falls A LOT and has bruises elsewhere. She called me and informed me her supervisor said to make the call to cps. Im afraid they will take my kids away. They just closed my case in July. My boys were in foster care last year for 4 months because i had ppd and called cps myself asking for help. They were returned home July last year and the case remained open for one year. Im freaking out.

You will be okay. Spanking isn't illegal leaving marks is though. They will come out and inspect everything. I haven't heard of kids being taken over a spanking just some parenting classes etc. I'm not sure about previous run INS with them though

If you did actually bruise your kid, then they should be taken away. There is ALWAYS a better way to discipline than spanking. If you resort to spanking, you have not thought hard enough of an intelligent way to discipline them so that they learned their lesson.

Exactly. I just needed to get it out and tell someone. I dont beat my kids. I spank my 4 yr old sometimes when im angry. And i know it is wrong. And i feel horrible.

Quoting Anonymous:

This is why so many people are scared to reach out or ask for help. I hope everything turns out ok for you and your kids.

she said she didn't know if she left them or if they were from falling down. clearly she's admitting she has a problem and is trying to get help.

Quoting Anonymous:

Leaving bruises is illegal, that's abuse.

wow...this is what's wrong with society. you're seeking help, and mention spanking to your threapist (which isn't against the law) and in turn you get CPS called on you?

good luck mama

Good. Maybe they'll have a chance at a life with parents who won't hit them.

You know you're fucked when even your therapist thinks your kids need to be out of your home for their own safety.

Counselors are mandated reporters. They HAVE to report it.

You're not suppose to spank while angery. That's not a form of anger management. This coming from a mom that spanks.

I know it's too late now but you shouldn't have said the bruises might be from spanking. That leaves the therapist no choice but to call. Good luck.

if you're hitting your kids out of anger then, i'm sorry to say it, but maybe they shouldn't be with you.  i'm a proponent of spanking, if done correctly. you're not doing it correctly.
