The Chick-fil-A by my work has started putting straws in the drinks for the drive-through customers. They tear off about half the paper on the straw, the open end going into the drink and the top of the straw still has the paper on it.
I got a look of death today when I asked for a fresh drink with a straw that nobody has had their hands all over. I use to wait tables and have torn the wrappers off straws like this many times, and usually my hands do end up touching the straw itself (realizing now that I'm older that it's pretty gross to do that). Am I weird for thinking that they shouldn't be doing this? I don't know where their hands have been and don't want those germs going into my drink.
What say you?
For all you women who are saying "those same hands made your food" - what kind of podunk places are you all going where the cashier takes your order, goes to the back and makes your food and then gives it to you? Last I checked, the kitchen staff is usually the one who makes the food and the cashier just hands you the bag. The person making my food isn't taking money from customers all day long.
