If you book a hotel with a credit card

Do they charge your card on the day you book it or do they wait until you actually check-in at the hotel?

*I went through the actual hotel's website (hilton), it hasn't posted to my c.c yet so I'm assuming they're waiting until check-in/out

They won't charge the card till you check out I believe. That's how it's always worked for me.

Depends. Ask the hotel. I've had them take a deposit then the rest at checkout. I've also had them charge one night right away and the other night when I checked out.

They don't charge until you check out but they do "hold" the amount to make sure you have enough limit.

Depends on if you are booking it directly or through a site like Priceline/Expedia.

I don't know, but I always assume that I will be charged when I book it.

they wait until you check in. If I remember you dont have to use that credit card to pay for with it. It's for them, incase you damage the room or something.

After you check out. Really it's only to hold a room. We book with a cc but when we check in we say we'll be paying with cash. We pay cash at checkout and there's never anything on the card.

It depends on the hotel and where/how you purchase the rental.

Calling the hotel directly and asking would be your best bet.
