Of course it was gone, you kind of have to expect that.

That sucks:/ We did the same thing with a sign asking people to take a couple of their favorites and please leave some for other people. We ended up with a handful leftover, though. We have a pretty good neighborhood.

If you honestly expected the candy to still be there when you got back, you're dense--it's Halloween, it's what trick or treaters do--they get candy.  If you only wanted to give each a piece or two, then one of you should have stayed home and passed it out, not left the whole bowl out unsupervised!

Unless they took the actual bowl, you shouldn't be surprised at all.

We have gone through 12 bags of candy in less than 2 hours...and half of those were the giant bags. I'm annoyed as heck. I don't like to hand out candy because we have a HUGE variety and I don't know about allergies or even just personal preferences so I hold out the bowl and say take a couple. The young kids and the freaking teens have NO problem with this and are super happy we let them have a couple...the 8-9 year olds keep grabbing HANDFULS, like more than one, to the point where I have to pull the bowl away. One girl stuck her hand in 3 times and I couldn't pull it away because her friends or sisters or whatever were with her and they were trying to pick candy. I finally said, "I said take a couple, not multiple handfuls" and she gave me a look. Seriously?!?! My husband said they don't know what "a couple" means so I'm trying to make myself say take 2 but I keep forgetting. But even if you don't know what "a couple" means, when was it ever okay to take multiple handfuls?

Taking the candy isn't bid deal what ever it's the fact that they took the bowl and everything
