Is this a Jewish stereotype?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
I was talking to my (Jewish) therapist about how greedy family members descended like vultures when my grandmother died. He mentioned that, coming from a Jewish family, he knew what that was like. Is being greedy vultures after death a common Jewish stereotype?

Then you don't know many Jews.  The majority of them I have ever met are the most gracious and humble, and non-judgemental people I have ever known.

Every Jew I've ever known was greedy, money hungry, and cheap.

I'm not sure about that - but I've seen it a number of times in our family, and no, we aren't Jewish.

Being greedy is a stereotype of Jewish people.  Being Jewish myself and seeing how my (Jewish) friends live as well...it is FAR from the truth for most of us.

Indiana. I had 1 Jewish teacher at my highschool in Detroit. If I'm not mistaken he is the only Jewish person that I have ever known. That was 7 years ago.

Really? None? Where do you live?

I've heard what the previous posters said. I don't know any Jewish people though.

This is a HUMAN "stereotype." It is something that (unfortuantely) unites us all and transcends nationality.

I've never considered greed part of the stereotype. Frugal and stingy, yes.

If they really all greedy you'd think they'd want to keep EVERYTHING for themselves including their foreskin...
