Call each other husband and wife. It just doesn't seem right, While us married people went the extra mile planed the wedding and ect. and they didn't they just live together for many years. It still doesn't seem right. Right now I am talking about my sister and her boyfriend.

If so many of you think its awkward to intruduce your b/f as such than get married, get it on paper.

I never said anything about a full wedding you all took it way out of context.

and, to those of you saying that its a waist of time to think about it. Thanks for stopping by my post lol

Common law counts in some states, and all that's required is living together.

Well some married couples dont plan a wedding. You do a realize a marriage isn't about a wedding

But I see your point, it was just sort of poorly explained

I think it's just silly...If it's that important to you to be able to use the title, make it legit. The courthouse costs like $50.

If they have been together a long time, like 7-10 years, then that wouldn't bother me. Probably wouldn't bother me even if they weren't together that long.   More and more people don't need a piece of paper to be married.

How long have they been together? Do they have children? My in lawds lived together for 32 years before they got married and they only did it then because they had to produce a marriage license for insurance. They and everyone around them considered them married long before the ceremony.

Just like you can't be a little bit pregnant you are either married, or not.

Meh, my parents didn't get married for 21 years. They called each other husband and wife. Their relationship didn't change when they signed the marriage contract.
