That's weird, imo. I would ask why. They usually on intervene if someone thinks something it's wrong with the child.

It's not unusual to have an OT observation in general.  My boys have had several for different reasons, no issues found (which I disagree with on my older son, handwriting issues).

I think some daycares it is normal, and doesn't mean anything mean anything bad. You shoudl be able to ask and get all the info you need though. I don't know why you are so worried until you ask though.

Seems they either one) was in the room and walked by him and a conversation started or two) they are thinking he may need an Occupational Therapist and she was meeting with him. Ask the teacher if they are concerned.

Is he behind?

They could have just had some time and were visiting the kiddos and playing. I would ask, but would not be too worried just yet. (and I would make sure I would not be receiving a bill for something i didn't request!)

If they believe your child needs Ot they should have spoken with you prior and you should have been present for an evaluation. Maybe she was there for another kid and saw your child looking lonely so played with him.
