I was 16 when I met my now DH. He was 19yo. I was 17yo and he was 20yo when we started having sex.

Do you thing it was an assault or rape? I personally thing 17yo and 20yo is not a big difference, but CMers think otherwise. What do you think.

Depends on the people. Maturity levels are different people. I dont see the issue as long as the younger person is mature enough to handle an adult relationship, and the older one is prepared for any backlash that the situation may cause.

depending on where you live it could be considered statutory rape. Which is not the same as  assault or forced rape.

Once someone is 16 or 17, I think they are completely capable of being involved in a mature sexual relationship*

*unless the person has been systematically abused or otherwise has some sort of mental deficiency

It's legal and there is nothing wrong with it.  It's 3 yrs difference no big deal.

unless he forced you to have sex, no. Would I as a mother be upset about this, sure... I'd hope that an adult would know better then to fish in high school waters...
