Mom Confessions Mom Confessions

I homeschool and my kids wake up at 10 am.

They are 4 and 2. I put them to bed at 8:30 pm, but they stay up talking to each other and playing until about 10 or 11pm. After constantly going in their room every five minutes saying, " be quiet and go to sleep" and them still staying up that late, I decided to just let them be as long as they didn't get out of their beds.

So, now I wake up at 6am, do all of my chores before they're up. Since I have no chores to do, I can give schooling my undivided attention.

As they get older, I will get them up earlier.

My confession.

Thank you! I thought so. My sister says I'm developing a bad habit since people have to wake up early in the "real world".

Perk of homeschooling is that you make your own hours. :P

Only if you have to be at work early. Or work for someone else. At 4 and 2, it's more making sure they get enough sleep. If ten am works for you, then more power to you.

I was unlucky in having night owls AND morning kids. Left me going, wait, when do I get sleep?!

Now my night owls are old enough to be quiet in their room.

Well, my DD really. She is preschool age, but she's almost done with her preK curriculum. So she'll be moving onto Kindergarden in Jan or Feb.

My son...yes, he's only two. ;)

Well I'm a night owl, but I'm fully capable of getting to places on time in the am. I think it's fucked up to force children to wake before they're rested unless you have to because sleep is integral for growth.
