So I have these turkey salt and pepper shakers... But only their backs are shakers. The body is a seperate container... But what for??

They were my great grandmas, then my grandmas, my mom had them awhile and now they are mine, but I have never see a single one of those three women use the bottom half of these things! I use them every fall until I switch to my Christmas shakers on dec 1st... (I collect shakers, don't judge me! Lol)

What would you say is supposed to go in the body??? I thought sugar maybe, in one of them???

HAHA! I know what this is! I am a potter!

The top part is the pepper shaker and the bottom part is a salt celler. It is designed for you to put course salt in and use either with your fingers or a small spoon. They are popular in England.
