I saw a cop using food stamps

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
I was at the grocery store today, and I saw a police officer using food stamps. (He was not in uniform, but I know he is a cop).

How is it, that someone that risks his/her life everyday at their job paid so poorly that they qualify for food stamps? There is something seriously wrong with that.

This is exactly what I was wondering. Now all I see are "stop looking at how people are paying." Now an ebt user is worthy enough for privacy? :-p

You really don't understand the point of this post, do you?

Quoting slb235:

Just look up his salary online.  You can find the salary of almost any public employee.

Okay?

I'm not bashing him, I just thought it was sad that he risks his life for other people and doesn't get adequately compensated

Why does everyone assume the words FS in the OP means OP is bashing FS users. Shes said multiple times she thinks its wrong his pay is so bad he would qualify for them.

Which I agree. The people putting their life on the line to protect us, should be paid much better.

Really don't make that much. My cop friend has been on the force for almost 10 years and makes around 34k. Dh makes quite a bit more than that. We missed qualifying by only 1k annually before dh got his raise.
Eta.. just double checked. I was wrong. Cop friend makes 41k. Still within range to qualify. however, he's single with no dependents, so no fs for him. And it looks like we qualified all along, not that i would have used it.

Depending on the city/county, police officers don't get paid very well.  They're wonderfully compensated in Phoenix, but from what I've heard places like New York aren't so good.
