Why would you use the apostrophe in that way? It changes the spelling of your name.

The correct way to use it would be:

Adams'

However I would just say:

The Adams

Or

The Adams Family

Or

George, Lola, Mikie, Jane, and Rex!

(Because since you aren't showing possession, I wouldn't use the apostrophe.)

Why not say "The Adams Family"?

Definitely NO apostrophe!

I hate saying the adams family. i refuse. lol.
it just seems so.... not... the same as everyone else when its just plain adams. everyone else adds an apostrophe and/or an s but not names that end in s? ugh. i hate this.

It would be either Adams' or Adams's but I think it is just Adams'. I know that it would be the opposite of how you would write something if it belongs to Jesus (weird, I know, but that is the literary rule). So if you would write Jesus's party (which I am 90% sure is how you would write that) then for everyone else it would the The Adams' party. Or if it is Jesus' party, then everyone else would be The Adams's party. I'm pretty sure Jesus gets the extra s because he's special but I'm not religious so I have no Bible to look that up in.

I realize this sounds like I am making it up but I am not. This is straight from my AP English classes back in high school.
