I think I've watched one too many "Alaska, the Final Frontier", "Yukon Men" and "Red Alaska" type of shows. But lately I've been on this kick where I feel as if I'm wanting to live differently. Umm...VERY differently.

I wish we had nothing to worry about but survival. Fishing, hunting, growing our foods, canning the foods, etc. I don't notice at all that people who live this lifestyle are overly concerned about celebrities, vanity or costly crap that they don't need.

I am so sick of my kids wanting the new and latest toy or expensive gadget. Soooo much commercialism! It would really do my kids a world of good to get out into the country and grow, hunt and cook their own foods; to get away from the spinning of our fast paced society.

What do you think? Would you do it?

Other than Internet, ..yeah, I wouldn't mind too much. I'd love to own chickens. Grow all our food. HAve nice fruit trees readily available. There's so much more to it, but I'd work at it.

I am of the mind that if I was in the right environment with the right people I would be fine with it.

I would want a large extended family though, just to make things easier and less boring.

Oh yes ma'am! Buy "Back to Basics" it is a GREAT resource! Even if you do not live on a farm, there is much you can do to live a more self-sustaining lifestyle.

And if you can, take your children camping. It is a great way to introduce them to the outdoors. No gadgets allowed!

The human mind seems to be either too idle or too stuffed full of social media, gossip and other pointless crap. If we're too busy surviving, we won't be all wrapped up in the pointless stuff.

The closest I get to social media is here, but I like being able to look up anything and everything in a second because it's here, handy at my fingertips.

I want either Montana or Alaska style living. It would be hard. I have a lot of kids so I wonder if it would even be possible. But it would be so pure, so different.

I do it partially, chickens, grow my own verges, tv tends to leave out the work and worry.
