I don't try to make myself look or feel better than anyone.

Quoting Anonymous:

No, I think sanctimonious mommies who need to make themselves feel better by putting others down are a growing breed. You're a dime a dozen on here.

I do not homeschool and I'm not a SAHM. But the rest is me. :)

Eh it just depends who you talk to in my experience.. I get some crazy looks when I say I home birth, and I get some "omg that's so amazing" statements about it. It might not be the norm in your neck of the wood but most of those things are the norm in this country

Quoting Anonymous:

I'm not bragging. I just get odd looks when I say even one of those things.

Quoting Cbreland07:

I do most of those.. Not necessarily something to brag about

I don't use a book to raise my kids, I took my old ass moms advice on lots of things, I let my mil and mom do whatever they want with my kids, meaning if they want donuts for dinner that's ok, after all that's a once in awhile deal and spank.

I have some of the most well-behaved boys 3 year old sat in a waiting room for 2.5 hours waiting on my mom to get out of eye surgery and he never made a peep. They are very well mannered.

Quoting Lydlou02:

Why don't you share what makes your parenting style a "dying breed"

It would be interesting to see.

Quoting Bitch.please:

Your breed is fucking trendy right now, where have you been? No, I'm the opposite of you and consider myself a dying breed.

I fit a lot of those, but my son drinks juice, forward faces, I drank tea while pregnant (but seriously cut back), and while I think no drugs during labor is ideal, I took them. next time I won't. I feel breast is best, and I really wanted to breastfeed but I couldn't.

Yeah. You aren't a dying

I'm the opposite:

I never BF

Gave him a hamburger on day 1

he rode shotgun home from the hospital

He drank High-C with that burger

sent him to boarding school

started my epi at 8 months, wanted to be safe

freebased diet coke.

All of that is very common in my area.

I hear those things more and more.
by Silver Member on Dec. 1, 2013 at 9:55 AM

I know a lot of people who do those things including me. I don't do them all but my son's still nursing, he's going to be 2 this month, no solids until after 6 months. I'm not really concerned if the kids have juice from time to time but it's not something we drink on a regular basis. I homebirth. I avoid caffeine during pregnancy but not while nursing and I'm a stay at home mom.
