It was a 4 hour flight and the little boy (probably around 3) across the aisle kept kicking the seat in front of him. His mom kept saying "Brayden, stop it", but he continued, and she apologized to the lady ahead of him once after she turned around and looked to see who was kicking her. Mom couldn't put him in her lap since she was holding a small baby.

Eventually after about 40 minutes, the lady in front of him (she was 20-something, flying alone) turned around, stood up and said "could you please stop that?"

Justified in speaking directly to the child, since his mother's efforts weren't working and she had already given her a "look"? Or should she have left it alone and let the mother continue to try to deal with it?

After 40 minutes of being kicked in the back (which is annoying as fuck on a plane) I think she is justified.

I would have done the same. Though it probably didn't make a difference. I would have been PISSED.

She was justified. I hate having children on airplanes, lol. I usually don't fly with my kids and there are always kids on the plane who are having a hard time one way or the other.

Often a kid who won't listen to Mom WILL listen to a stranger.  I think it is worth a try.

Totally justified. She politely asked him to stop.

I think she was fine with what she did. The mom needed to do something more than just telling him to stop it. (dont ask me what, as I dont have a suggestion but something more).

It doesn't sound like she was rude so I would say she was justified
