DH's best friend didn't invite DD to their wedding :(

My DD is 4. I'm a SAHM and rarely leave her for extended periods. I have never left her overnight.

My DH's best friend is getting married a 4 hour drive away, near his fiancee's hometown. They're very close to us and she calls them aunt and uncle. We are invited to the wedding, but DD is not, because it's "child-free".

DD was so excited about the wedding and will be so disappointed. I said that maybe none of us should go since I don't feel comfortable leaving her overnight, and DH got SO mad at me. He said he's not missing this wedding, it's his best friend, and it would be "ridiculous" and "rude" for me to not come to our close friend's wedding.

What do you think?

Personally, I would find a sitter, get a hotel near the wedding and have a blast. After going to a really nice reception where childen were invited, I completely understand why she chose child free.

Find a sitter and enjoy a night off. Do something special with DD on another day. She's old enough to go to the movies, or take her to get a mommy-daughter pedicure.

People have child free weddings all the time. I am sure it's nothing personal.

Uh go to the wedding. Your kid is four and can handle a night away. Hell you can take your kid and a sitter with you if it's that big of a deal.

I think you should go. Have a family member babysit.

If you have someone you can trust to watch her then go and enjoy a night out.

They aren't trying to insult you by having a child free wedding. No kids are invited, not just your dd. Sometimes its about money. When every couple invited has a child or two to bring along catering costs can skyrocket.

She's 4. She'll be fine.  Go and have a good time.
