It seems to me that more and more moms (if they choose to breastfeed) are continuing to breastfeed their children past the age of two, I know that breastmilk is great for your baby because of all the nutrients and antibodies it has in it, but is it really ok for your child pychologically to do so when they dont need it anymore?

I dont think that it is a good thing but idk so I would love to hear your pros and cons on this issue.

Yes. It is what is biologically normal for our species. I didn't get to nurse my children as long as I wanted to but if I could have they would have nursed until they were ready to be done.

It's so much better for a baby than cows milk. Cows milk is still breast milk, but for cows.

No. Your nipples turn rusty and fall off.

I weaned my last at 19mo because she was obsessed and I really needed my body back for my own sanity and to make things easier on my dh. I would've went longer if things were different.

What's it supposed to do to kids psychologically? It isn't sexual abuse... When the kid is ready to stop(speaking in terms of mom is not a wacko who won't respect their child's wishes) they will stop... Now if you try to force them to nurse then you need to be in jail because THAT would be abuse.
