Not per se... It reminds me of people who call taking care of their kids babysitting lol

No way I'm going to minimize how hard it can be though. I have respect for women who take care of it all without losing their shit.

We've gone through this so many times.

I'm a homemaker, which is slightly different. I do all the cooking / cleaning /grocery shopping / kid chauffering / lawn and yard work. I work more than 40 hours per week, for sure. It took me nearly 4 hours to shovel my driveway and walkway yesterday. DH works 12 hour days, so all the chores are on my back. The kids help when they're home, but they have a lot of sports / after school activities.

Not really, but not in a way that minimizes it. I just don't call it a job.

It isn't easy, but I wouldn't call it a job.

This.

When people ask me if my husband is babysitting the kids tonight, I always ask back "How can you babysit your own kids?" Makes me so mad. They make it seem like he is doing me a favor.

It's work. Hard work, at that. But work is not the same as employment.

It's a huge contribution to the household, which counts for a lot. But it still isn't a "job."
