I wouldn't say important. Its a fun part of being a kid and it is wonderful for the imagination.

I don't think it's important nor do I think it's not important. It's whatever. If they believe they believe if they don't they don't. Not worth my time to worry about it. My dd is 8 and I asked her if she still believed and she said yes,  but if she would have said no, it wouldn't make a difference Santa would still bring her gifts.

It's not that I think it's important and everyone has to do it, I just think it's fun for them is all so I like my children believing.

my oldest figured out the truth when he was 3...he kind of trained me not to get too excited about "santa claus".  my younger kids DO believe, but we don't get really elaborate with stories and we never take santa pics or anything like that.

I tell my 3 year old dd that Santa got her some gifts and so did mommy and daddy. (and whoever else gets her presents) and that it's a time where Santa gets you something you really want but also for family and friends to get together and give each other gifts. Why does Santa get all the praise when we're the ones spending all our money?! :)

It's a tradition I love, but the are lots of people who don't do Santa and their kids are fine.

Nope. It's okay if they do though.

I agree with this. I remember the excitement and Christmas was so magical as a child. I wouldn't call it important but it's fun!
