DH thinks DS (10) is old enough to go to the skating rink alone with his friends. He has a cell phone and we would give him a ride. It's not in the ghetto but junior high kids go there..

I used to go rollerskating at that age and my mom would drop me off. Cut the umbilical cord. Stranger abductions are extremely rare if that is your concern.

I think it would be okay for him to go, he will be with a group of friends, and he has a cell phone if anything should happen.

I did it all the time as a kid but I guess it depends on how mature your ds is. What are the skating rink rules?
